Where Have You Been?

Oft unaware
after I have prayed
if that was prayer.
I know only like Moses
when you God have been about.
The sight of your back
a lump in my throat.

I have wept begged
and most often, like a pond,
sat quietly and waited

to see where you've been:
this bush, perhaps,
aflame with blossoms.
