Open My Heart

by Alan Houghton

Lord, You have given me this new day, and a new me, and a new chance to lead a new life, with a new faith, and a new certainty that You are with me and within me in new and ever wondrous ways. Help me to seek peace of mind as I accept the reality of life as it unfolds today and the reality of a Savior who never, ever leaves my side.

Please help me to offer up my pain, my fears, my worries as a prayer for others. Into Your healing hands I commit us all. You are with and within us today, tonight, tomorrow and forever.

I ask for Your forgiveness, Your patience, and Your help. Please be my calm, my center, my courage and the focus of my life today. Help me to lighten up, listen up, and grow up. Lord, I pray for me. I pray for my family. I pray for all who will cross my path today. I pray for those who are out of hope, options, luck, love.

I thank You for all you have given me; for those I love and those who love me; for my life, my love, my liberty, and the promise of a life everlasting.

Lord, please teach me to give more of myself, my time, my talents, my mind, my experience, my money. Into Your healing hands I need to go, and take others with me.... Please hear them, hold them, help them, heal them. And restore them to that health of body and peace of mind which only You can give.

Lord, I pray for troubled nations; their people and their leaders; for those "in charge." I pray for justice and peace, at home and abroad.

I pray for people I can't stand or understand. Please open my eyes, my mind, my hands, my heart.

Finally, gracious and merciful Lord, I place myself in Your hands. Please ease my doubts, deepen my faith, calm my fears, touch my aches and pains, hang onto me and restore my sight.

There is a God! There is more out there than meets the eye. There is a tomorrow. And I'm certain that I'll be in it!!
