A Day in the Life of ME

by Kelly Quackenbush

Me Requires…

That I be in control
That I be right
That I be first
That I know
That I look good in situations
That I have it now
That things be black & white
That I be visible
That things be perfect
That I be noticed
That I be appreciated
That I feel good
That things be neat & tidy
That I win
That I hold on tight
That things go smooth
That there be a happy ending
That I get my way
That I hurry
That I rush on to the next thing
That I be the instigator of things
That I protect things
That I fix what’s broken
That I make things mine
That I be safe
That I be satisfied
That I be exact
That I have a rock-solid plan
That it be easy
That I get credit
That I stand up for myself
That I manage each step
That I avoid being vulnerable

 Letting Go – It’s okay…

To not be in control
To be wrong
To be last
To not know
To look bad in situations
To have to have to wait
When things are gray
When I’m not visible
When things aren’t perfect
To not be noticed
To not be appreciated
To not feel good
When there is chaos
To lose
To let go altogether
When things don’t go smooth
When things don’t end okay
When I don’t get my way
To slow down
To pause before the next thing
Let others instigate
To not protect things
To let things be broken
When things aren’t mine
To feel unsafe
To not be satisfied
To be roughly right
To not have a rock-solid plan
When things are hard
When I don’t get credit
To get walked on
To let things go by themselves
To be vulnerable
