A New Executive Director has been Selected

Doug Wysockey-Johnson, 41, of Burlington VT, has been chosen to lead Faith@Work into the future. As a pastor, writer and relational speaker, Doug brings many gifts to his new position as Executive Director of F@W. He will be installed at the Board/Convocation meeting, April 20-22.

After that, the current president, Marjory Bankson, will be the editor of F@W magazine and a staff associate for leadership training.

Doug is married to Kathryn, who is an artist currently working with clay. He has been serving the Covenant Community Church in Essex VT for the past six years and before that was an associate at Norwell (MA) UCC church. Doug's relational skills were developed in the Covenant camping program--as a participant, staffer and finally chaplain in charge of spiritual development of the staff. He graduated from Andover-Newton Seminary and Hope College in Holland MI.

An "adult child of F@W parents," Doug was introduced to Faith At Work at home in Hinsdale IL. "After my parents went to an LTI (Leadership Training Institute) in the 70s, they were more honest with each other, more open and aware, more affectionate (Why was my dad trying to hug me all the time now?) and better listeners. FAW made them better parents, I think.

Doug continues, My reconnection with FAW as an adult came in 1991. I was working as a consultant with Dick Broholm in the area of non-profit trusteeship, and we were asked to do some work with the FAW board. At this point, I saw FAW with new eyes. This was not just some touchy-feely organization that my parents needed to grow out of their constrictive religious upbringing. I began to see the relational theology and substance to what FAW does.

So many of what are core values in FAW resonate with me: telling your story; rooted in biblical faith and at the same time open; the importance of the laity; valuing celebration and creativity, to name a few.

Dick and I had met with many non-profits, so I was keyed into statements of mission and vision. Looking at FAW's mission and vision and values got me excited. I realized that this not only fits my personal values, it offers something to the world. That's important to me too.

The Change Lives campaign will undergird Faith@Work and strengthen it for ministry in the years to come. We are very grateful for the 15 years of leadership by current President, Marjory Bankson. Read about Marjory's new call and about her commitment to the future of F@W.
