Ken
Parker was the keynote speaker. He divided his theme (Panting for Breath)
into several sections throughout the conference: "Yearning and Loving,"
"Praying," "Serving," "Healing," and "Growing."
John
Connor led the early morning "Greeting the Dawn" sessions. These were
heart-felt worship and praise sessions, with handouts which can be used
over and over.
A
special highlight at the conference was the dedication of a piano for the
St Paul's Center. The piano dedication will be remembered by all who attended
it. Ada Smith was able to come and share in this, which made it
a truly joyous occasion, both because she was instrumental (!!!) in setting
up the project and carrying it out, and because everyone loves her, and
was happy to get to see her for a little while. Jinny Finnagan spoke
movingly about
Lee
and Irma Whiston, and what they have meant to us in Faith at Work.
Walden
Chandler attached the plaque to the piano in their honor, and Ellie
Clifford played favorites of Lee and Irma, as only Ellie can do. These
included, "Be thou My Vision," "Something Beautiful,"and more. We were
grateful that Ada had an opportunity to speak to the group, and to play
the piano also.
