Bob Slocum
  • Bob is a Presbyterian layman and a high-tech entrepreneur. He is founder of Polatomic, Inc., a Dallas, TX company that specializes in new product development for NASA, the US Navy and Lucent.
  • Bob is a professor at Fuller Theological Seminary and has taught the Doctor of Ministry course Empowering the People of God for Ministry for the last 10 years.
  • Bob is author of the book Maximize Your Ministry that describes his approach for developing a "heart driven ministry" in the church and in the world. Order it today from FAW.
  • Bob is a regular writer for Faith@Work magazine.

  • Ken & Steve hail from Morrow Presbyterian Church, Morrow, GA & minister regularly at conferences as The Back Row Bunch.

Conference Schedule

The Conference began with Friday's dinner at 5:30pm followed by the program at 7pm and concluded with Sunday's lunch at 11:30am. But there was also Saturday night's gathering at the Tabby House! 

Conference Accommodations

Epworth-by-the-Sea is a Methodist Conference Center, situated on the Intracoastal Waterway at beautiful and historic Saint Simons Island.

Conference Workshops

"Discovering Rest in the Scriptures": Connecting the Bible with our weary souls.
     Led by Nancy Boyle: Christian educator, fisherman, FAW Board chair, grandmother.

"Juggling Life": Finding a balance in our lives/schedules thru a hands-on examination.
     Led by Kay Campbell: college instructor & energetic, menopausal mom.

"Blossoming While Buffeted": Learning how to grow creatively during change and loss.
     Led by Gail Kittleson: wife, mother, writer, walker, bereavement cards & literature creator.

"At the Heart of Me": Using a personality profile to understand "Who I Am".
     Led by Russell McKee: pastor, musician, FAW Board member, Marissa's daddy.

"With a Song in My Heart": Using music to center us -- it's an essential part of who we.
     Led by Steve McLeod: singer, songwriter, daddy, elder.

Pastoral Counseling: 15-minute personal sessions.
     Led by Bob Murphy: pastor & anxiety worship creator.

Conference Vision:

  • Provide a yearly celebration of small group life 

  • across local & denominational lines. 
  • Provide a place where laity & clergy can mix their hopes & visions for the church of Jesus Christ.

  • Provide a place to introduce newcomers to relational Christianity & "cross-train" more experienced leaders.
