The Prince Mammoth Pumpkin is a parable of life, loss and redemption.
It concerns a wondrous pumpkin, much larger than an ordinary pumpkin, and
the farmer who planted and watched over it. His was a pumpkin of the heart,
the last great hope of a man sinking into loneliness. What happens to the
pumpkin, and the farmer, is change beyond expectation. We who read the
stroy are left to wonder at the secret fecundity of life even when it is
